WordPress theme

Villagio is MotoPress's WordPress theme for a single accommodation business, built around the vendor's own Hotel Booking plugin and its seasonal rates, availability calendars and iCal channel sync. The article starts from the vendor's stated limitation — no hotel chains — then covers what the bundled booking engine lets you configure per property, how the recent admin calendar and Stripe changes affect daily operations, and where the theme's own front end ends and paid addons begin.

The vendor rules out hotel chains, and that decides most of the build

Before the layout or the page builder matters, one line in the vendor's own description settles fit. Villagio, the vendor states, does not support hotel chains: you cannot feature multiple hotels each containing multiple rooms.

What the theme is built for instead is a roster of accommodations — the vendor's examples run from hotels and inns to villas, bed and breakfasts and hostels — each treated as an individual bookable property. A small group of cottages, a handful of apartments, a guesthouse with a few named suites: those are listings side by side. A chain where a hotel owns its own set of rooms is a different data shape, and this theme does not model it.

That is worth knowing early because it is not a styling question you can fix later with a template override. If your inventory has a two-level parent-and-rooms structure, the booking engine bundled here is the wrong starting point regardless of how the front end looks.

The booking engine comes from the same vendor as the theme

The vendor states that the premium MotoPress Hotel Booking plugin is included at no extra cost, and that they build both the theme and the plugin. Take that as a description of who maintains the two halves rather than a promise about how they behave on your server.

The practical consequence is where your editing work happens. Property details, rates and bookings live in the plugin's dashboard, not in theme options, and the theme supplies the presentation layer around them. When the vendor ships an update, the changelog usually leads with a plugin version change — 2.3.0 moved Hotel Booking to 6.2.3 — so theme releases and booking functionality releases travel together.

The theme side, per the vendor's highlights, is deliberately plain: built on native WordPress functionality, powered by the Getwid blocks plugin, with boxed and wide layout options, a header slider, testimonial and gallery sections, multi-column property layouts, a sidebar and an adjustable colour scheme. The marketplace marks it Gutenberg Optimized as Yes and lists the Block Editor among compatible-with entries.

Rates are structured data, not a price field

The engine's rate model is the part that separates a real rental site from a page with a contact form. The vendor lists seasonal pricing and rates, per-guest pricing variables, weekly and monthly rates, and booking rules covering stay-in dates plus maximum and minimum nights.

For a small portfolio this means each property carries its own pricing calendar: a high-season band, a longer-stay discount expressed as a weekly or monthly rate, an extra-guest charge, and a minimum-night rule that blocks a one-night weekend booking in July. Later changelog entries describe further refinement — annually repeated seasons, reorderable rates with a priority setting, and coupons scoped to services and fees.

Availability is managed on the same object. Blocking rules, availability calendars and a bookings calendar for admins sit alongside the rates, and version 2.2.0 added a search-results limit that returns only accommodations able to host the requested number of guests when that option is switched on.

iCal sync covers the OTA side, with limits you should understand

The vendor describes iCal file-format support for syncing bookings across online travel agencies without an extra channel manager, naming Airbnb and Booking.com as examples, and frames it as a way to avoid overbooking while keeping direct bookings on your own site.

That is calendar-file exchange, not a live two-way integration with each platform's API. Version 2.2.0 added the ability to sync bookings with buffer times included, which helps when you need cleaning time between stays, and 2.1.0 added linking selected accommodations so that booking one automatically blocks its linked partner. Those are useful controls within the model the vendor describes.

If your operations depend on instant rate and inventory pushes to multiple channels, iCal is a narrower tool than a dedicated channel manager, and the vendor does not claim otherwise.

The 2.3.0 admin calendar and Stripe changes

The most recent entry in the vendor's changelog, dated 6 August 2026, is mostly about consolidating daily work. It adds an admin calendar for creating bookings and managing dates, rates and availability in one interface, including setting daily pricing and availability directly in that calendar. A separate multi-property availability calendar lets you show several chosen properties' availability in one overview on the site.

The same release reworked payments. Stripe payment methods are now managed through the Stripe dashboard, including local payment methods, Apple Pay and Google Pay; payment authorization is supported, so you can capture or release funds later; and gateway-specific transaction fees can be applied to bookings for PayPal, Stripe, 2Checkout, Braintree and Beanstream/Bambora so the processing cost is passed to the guest.

A quieter item in the same changelog matters to anyone taking money: checkout payment validation and customer account data ownership checks were tightened. The vendor credits the report to Haitam Lazaar.

What the theme purchase does not include

The vendor draws an explicit line around the addons. WooCommerce Payments, Hotel Booking Payment Reminder, Guest Reviews, Mailchimp Integration, Event-driven Notifications, PDF Invoices, Checkout Fields editor and Multi-currency are named as extensions available separately, not part of the theme purchase.

Read that list as a checklist against your requirements. Guest reviews, for instance, are covered on the site by the theme's testimonial section, but a moderated review system tied to completed bookings comes from the addon. Multi-currency, invoicing and a customised checkout field set are likewise outside the base package.

WooCommerce itself is supported — the vendor describes the theme as e-commerce ready via WooCommerce and the marketplace lists compatibility with WooCommerce 7.x.x — and the theme files listed are PHP, HTML, CSS and JS.

Declared compatibility, and what it does not tell you

When observed on 5 November 2026, the marketplace recorded stated support for WordPress 5.8.x through 7.0.x, WooCommerce 7.x.x, WPML, the Block Editor, and Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Edge. Those are vendor and marketplace declarations, not the results of running this theme against your plugin stack.

Two details are worth separating. The vendor notes that the Hotel Booking plugin itself supports the Block Editor, Elementor and Divi — that describes where the booking shortcodes and blocks can be placed, not what the Villagio theme's own pages are built with. And the plugin's language list is far longer than the theme's: the vendor names English and German for the theme, while the booking plugin is listed in eighteen languages, so WPML handles the rest.

Villagio fits a rental business with a set of individual properties, seasonal and length-of-stay pricing, and a channel strategy that tolerates iCal. The plugin's own REST API and documentation are there if you plan to build beyond the standard screens. It does not fit a chain with nested hotels and rooms, and the vendor says so directly.

Questions & answers

Does Villagio work for a hotel with several room types?

Yes, if the rooms are separate bookable accommodations in your listing. No, if you need one hotel record containing its own set of rooms — the vendor states that hotel chains with multiple hotels each holding multiple rooms are not supported.

Do I need a separate channel manager to sync with Airbnb or Booking.com?

The vendor describes iCal file-format sync as a way to exchange bookings with online travel agencies without an extra channel manager. It is calendar exchange rather than a live inventory API, so check it against how quickly your channels need to update.

Is the Hotel Booking plugin included in the theme?

The vendor says the premium MotoPress Hotel Booking plugin is included at no extra cost, with no subscription. Paid extensions such as Guest Reviews, Multi-currency, PDF Invoices and Checkout Fields editor are listed separately and are not part of the theme purchase.

Can I edit Villagio's pages in the block editor?

The marketplace marks the theme Gutenberg Optimized as Yes and lists the Block Editor under compatible-with, observed on 5 November 2026. The vendor describes the theme as built on native WordPress functionality and powered by the Getwid blocks plugin. The booking plugin additionally supports the Block Editor, Elementor and Divi.

Golo

Golo is a directory and travel WordPress theme where each listing carries a chosen action - a booking form, a message form, location and contact details, or an affiliate button or banner - so restaurants, rentals and attractions can behave differently inside one install. The vendor also describes a supplier side with membership packages, a user and partner dashboard, and a claim route for real business owners, plus maps that can run on OpenStreetMap or Mapbox rather than Google.

Alloggio

Alloggio, by Edge-Themes, spreads room booking across separate shortcodes — room lists, an availability calendar, a reservation filter and a reservation form — so you decide which question each page section answers. Each room record can also carry seasonal rates, a minimum-nights rule and an optional half-day booking mode. This article covers how those blocks combine, what the WooCommerce additions (wishlist, quick view, side-area cart) do, how the four header types and hospitality widgets slot in, and what the changelog says about translation, maps and PHP upkeep.

Auto Spa

Auto Spa, from QuanticaLabs, is a car wash and auto detailing theme wrapped around a bundled booking plugin. Its distinctive logic is that a location is the unit of configuration: each one keeps its own currency, tax, sales-menu style, workplaces, calendar rules and payment settings. Mobile detailing adds address capture, a service-area limit and a travel fee calculated from Google Maps driving distance or time for both legs of the trip. The theme side is edited through three Appearance panels and WPBakery with 30+ custom elements.
