Horse Club

WordPress theme

Horse Club is a WPBakery theme from UsefulPixels for riding schools, stables, tours and breeding businesses, with 18 custom "Useful Elements", a portfolio post type that exposes column, hover, filter, slug and load-more settings, and declared compatibility with The Events Calendar, Events Calendar Pro, WP Travel and WooCommerce. The listing's WooCommerce version claims conflict, so the shop range is a declaration to check, not a tested figure.

A portfolio that behaves like a listings board

Most themes treat portfolio as a gallery with one look. Horse Club's vendor description gives it a settings sheet: 2, 3, 4, 5 and metro column layouts, thumbnails with or without spacing, three hover treatments (circle, grayscale-to-colour, and a basic option), a category filter placed left or centre, a custom post count, AJAX load more, and an editable portfolio slug.

For a yard advertising horses for sale or a tour operator with a wall of rides, that is the part of the theme that replaces a plugin. Two details deserve attention before launch. The slug is editable, and changing it later rewrites those item URLs, so settle the wording before search engines index them. Custom layouts built in the visual composer stay with the item you built them for; reusing a layout elsewhere does not carry later edits across.

The blog side is described separately, with masonry, large-image and sidebar layouts, a selectable post count, category filtering, and a testimonial custom post type that can place quotes left or centred, with or without an image.

What the 18 custom elements and WPBakery actually give you

WPBakery Page Builder is the editing layer. The vendor lists it as integrated, and the marketplace compatibility attribute names it too. The feature list adds "WPBakery Page Builder + 18 Custom buit-in elements" — the typo is the vendor's — and the changelog for version 2.2 records "New Useful Elements" with a separate demo page for them. So part of the toolkit is theme-specific rather than standard rows and columns.

The layout options that pair with it are multi-page and one-page builds. Menu navigation is listed for top, left, centre, popup-left, popup-right and mobile, with a background that can be transparent, a solid colour or an image. Menu anchors can jump to a section on the same or a different page. A long scrolling front page with a transparent header over a photograph is therefore a setting combination, not custom CSS.

What the vendor does not say is how far a demo layout depends on those custom elements. If you intend to compose pages yourself instead of importing a demo, expect to learn the element set rather than just the builder.

Schedules and bookings stay with plugins

The marketplace compatibility attribute names The Events Calendar and Events Calendar Pro. The description separately claims WP Travel compatibility, and the changelog records version 2.0 as adding "WP Travel plugin compatibility [Booking System]" and version 2.2 as adding The Events Calendar 5.x compatibility.

The reading is straightforward: Horse Club is styled to sit beside a calendar plugin for lesson timetables, clinics and shows, and a booking plugin for tours or yard services. The theme provides layout and presentation; the calendar and booking logic remain in those plugins. Nothing in the listed file contents suggests either comes bundled.

If booking is central, the question worth answering first is whether your chosen plugin's output renders well inside these templates. The vendor's compatibility statement is a declaration, not a record of testing against the versions you will run.

Heading-level type control, ten skins and a theme options panel

Typography is set per heading level: H1 through H6 each get font family, weight and style, text alignment, subsets and colour, drawn from 600+ Google Fonts. Ten built-in skin colours sit underneath, and the whole set is managed through Redux Framework.

That configuration suits a house style where a page title and section headings differ deliberately in weight and size, because the difference becomes a theme option instead of a child-theme stylesheet. Child theme support is listed, along with multiple custom sidebars, a mega menu, an expandable search field, an AJAX cart and Contact Form 7 compatibility.

One package note in the marketplace text matters for planning: demo images are not distributed with the final product and belong to their respective owners. Every photo you see in a demo has to be replaced with your own or licensed photography.

Where the version claims disagree

The marketplace compatibility attribute lists WooCommerce 9.x.x, while the description says the theme is compatible with "WooCommerce 10.2.x". Those are different statements, and neither is a test result. If your shop depends on a specific WooCommerce release, check the changelog and your own staging install rather than picking whichever figure reads better.

WordPress is declared at 6.8.x and 6.0.x. The 2.8 changelog entry dated 30 September 2025 lists a WordPress 6.8+ fix alongside WPBakery and Revolution Slider updates, which fits a theme whose maintenance consists largely of keeping the bundled builder and slider current. Gutenberg Optimized is marked No; that does not remove the block editor, but it does tell you the editing path the vendor supports is WPBakery, and block-built pages should not be assumed to inherit the theme's layouts.

Widget Ready and Well Documented are both marked Yes, and the listed files are PHP, CSS and JavaScript. None of this comes from running the theme on a current install.

Questions & answers

Does Horse Club include a booking system of its own?

No built-in booking system is described. The vendor lists compatibility with The Events Calendar, Events Calendar Pro and WP Travel, and the changelog records WP Travel as a booking-system compatibility addition in version 2.0. The booking logic stays with those plugins.

Can the portfolio URL slug be changed after launch?

The vendor lists an optional portfolio slug name, so the value is editable. Changing it later alters those item URLs, which is why the wording is best settled before the site is indexed.

Do the demo photos come with the theme?

The marketplace text states that demo images are not distributed with the final product and belong to their respective owners. Plan on supplying your own photography.

Armada

Armada, by Dream-Theme, is built around presentation decisions made per document: five header and menu arrangements, four separate slideshow engines, five appearance modes for an individual photo album, and a Microsite page template with its own toggle set. The vendor also counts 29 custom WPBakery elements, 16 skins across four layouts, and dedicated post types for portfolios, albums and slideshows. The listing declares WordPress 5.5.x and WooCommerce 3.8.x, with the most recent recorded vendor update in December 2020, so the image-display toolkit is the reason to pick it and the age of the declaration is what to weigh.

ART

ART, by SeaTheme, is a portfolio theme built around its portfolio index: the grid or masonry list can pull from posts, portfolio items, WooCommerce products or the media library across 1-12 columns, with filtering, load-more or infinite scroll. Masonry placement is hand-edited rather than computed, and single project pages are composed from gallery, text, slider and video elements. The article covers that listing system, the project-page variants, the BM Content Builder editing model with Elementor and WPBakery as alternatives, the header and mobile typography controls, and what the marketplace declares and includes.

Arte

Arte is a CurlyThemes WordPress theme aimed at galleries and museums, and its distinguishing content pieces are the ones a general portfolio theme does not ship: a collection grid, an events schedule, a timeline and a journal. Layouts are assembled in Visual Composer/WPBakery with the vendor's own Xtender plugin adding custom elements, an extended per-page settings panel, a sidebar generator, custom widgets and footer options. The vendor also lists paid plugins as bundled and marks the theme compatible with WooCommerce 6.x through 9.x and WPML.
