Two free plugins do the work other job boards buy
Cariera is built on WP Job Manager, and the vendor's central claim is that no extra plugins are required. Two free plugins ship to back that up. Cariera Addons covers applications, application deadlines, bookmarks, job alerts, job tags and resumes — the features WP Job Manager otherwise sells as separate premium add-ons. Cariera Packages, written from scratch for this theme, handles monetisation.
The distinction matters when you price a project. A plain WP Job Manager build usually grows by add-on, each with its own licence and its own update cycle. Here the applications and alerts layer is inside the theme's own plugin, so the job board behaves consistently rather than through several vendors' interfaces. The marketplace description also notes the theme enhances WP Job Manager's functionality across the board.
Separately, the vendor lists third-party WP Job Manager plugins as compatible but sold separately, and states none of them appear in the live demo. Compatibility there is a declaration, not an inclusion.
Who logs in, and what each role can do
The candidate and employer sides are treated as different workspaces. Registration happens on the front end, and you can set it to automatic or moderate each account before it is approved. Once approved, users log in from the front end.
The dashboard is where the everyday work sits: employers and candidates handle applications, listings and profile actions without entering wp-admin. A notification system reports job applications, listing approvals, listing expirations and similar events inside the site.
Private messaging is the other piece worth weighing. Employers and candidates can talk to each other inside the install instead of exchanging email addresses — useful if you want the conversation to stay on your site, and something to consider if you would rather not moderate member-to-member messages at all.
Packages, and the WC Subscriptions decision
Cariera Packages became the main monetisation plugin in version 2.0.0, replacing WC Paid Listings. It defines three package types: Submission Packages that charge for submitting listings, Promotion Packages that let users pay to feature a listing from the dashboard, and View Single Listing Packages that charge visitors for access to individual listing pages.
The limitation is stated plainly by the vendor: Cariera Packages does not currently support WooCommerce Subscriptions, with support described as planned. If your revenue model depends on recurring billing, the vendor says to keep using WC Paid Listings. That single sentence should decide the monetisation path before you import a demo, because switching later means moving package data rather than flipping a setting.
Version 2.0.0 also added migration support from WC Paid Listings and from Cariera Promotions, which softens moves in the other direction.
Half-map search is the main discovery surface
Maps are not decoration here. The theme supports Google Maps, OpenStreetMap and Mapbox, with autocomplete on location fields, and the half-map layout — listings on one side, map on the other — is presented as a core feature.
The Elementor half-map element was rebuilt in version 2.0.0 with controls that change how search behaves: "search as I move the map", search form position, an off-canvas search form option, listing layout choice, listings per page, pagination, and cluster styling. For a board where location is the main filter, those settings do more practical work than another colour option.
Advanced search fields are listed among the theme's extras. If you plan to lean on third-party search filtering for WP Job Manager, note the vendor lists that as a separately sold plugin rather than part of the package.
Layout choices: homepages, listing grids and single pages
All homepages and extra pages are built with Elementor, and the theme adds its own custom Elementor elements alongside the standard set. The vendor counts 12 unique homepages.
Listing designs are counted separately from single pages, which is the more useful division: 8 job listing layouts, 4 company listing layouts and 4 resume listing layouts, plus multiple single-listing layouts for those same three content types. A job board's design work concentrates in the card and the detail page, so the range is where most of the visual decisions get made.
Blog post formats cover Standard, Aside, Audio, Image, Quote, Video and Gallery, and Contact Form 7 is supported for candidate and company contact forms. The listing marks Gutenberg Optimized as No — a statement about block-editor optimisation, not evidence that the block editor is unavailable.
Companies as a managed object, not a label
Cariera's own Company Manager extends WP Job Manager's default companies without third-party plugins. Employers can post job listings on a company's behalf, the company's details are shown on its page, and its open roles are grouped together.
The changelog shows where that has been extended. Version 2.0.0 added a Company HR feature for assigning users to post jobs on behalf of a company from the back end, plus company listing expiration. The single company page gained a clearer "open job positions" listing, and company logos moved to full-size rather than cropped versions in a later release.
These are the details that separate a real directory from a job feed: several people posting under one employer, roles that close on their own schedule, and a profile page that does more than repeat a name.
Declared compatibility and what ships
The marketplace attributes observed on 4 November 2026 record compatibility with Elementor and Elementor Pro, WooCommerce 7.x through 9.x, and Bootstrap 4.x, across WordPress 5.7.x to 7.0.x. The files field lists PHP, CSS and JavaScript. Browsers named are Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera and Edge.
Those are stored claims from the listing, not results from running the theme on a host. WooCommerce appears in the list partly because the older paid-listings route ran through it, so treat shop-related compatibility as something to confirm on staging rather than settled by the attribute.
The practical bound is the plugin set: applications, resumes, alerts and packages come from the two Cariera plugins, so their versions move with the theme's own update cycle. The vendor's presale support channel and the documentation are listed as available, and the description does not describe what happens to existing listings if you later deactivate the companion plugins.
Questions & answers
Does Cariera need premium WP Job Manager add-ons?
The vendor says no extra plugins are required. Cariera Addons is a free plugin built for the theme that covers applications, application deadlines, bookmarks, job alerts, job tags and resumes — the ground premium WP Job Manager add-ons normally cover. Other WP Job Manager plugins are listed as compatible but are sold separately and do not appear in the live demo.
Can I charge users for listings and featured placements?
Yes, through the free Cariera Packages plugin. It offers submission packages, promotion packages for featuring a listing from the dashboard, and packages that charge visitors for viewing single listing pages. Check the subscription point first: the vendor states the plugin does not currently support WooCommerce Subscriptions and recommends staying with WC Paid Listings if recurring billing is essential.
How do location searches work?
The theme supports Google Maps, OpenStreetMap and Mapbox with location autocomplete, and includes a half-map layout with listings beside the map. The Elementor half-map element has settings for search-as-you-move-the-map, search form placement, an off-canvas form, listings per page, pagination and map cluster styling.
Can several people post jobs for one company?
The Company Manager lets listings be posted on a company's behalf and groups a company's jobs on its page. A Company HR feature added in version 2.0.0 assigns users to post jobs for a company from the back end, and company listings can be given an expiration.
