Authentic Installation and Setup Guide

Authentic 7.2.6 setup notes from its inspected archive: recommended plugins, external demo resources and the menu assignments to review after import.

Updated September 7, 2026 · theme.markets editorial team

Scope: the inspected Authentic 7.2.6 archive

This setup note concerns the Authentic 7.2.6 package identified on the product page, not every later release. Inspection found the theme stylesheet under authentic/style.css and separate plugin-registration and demo-import code. We read those files without running the theme. For the ordinary upload procedure, use the shared WordPress installation reference in the guide library.

Choose plugins deliberately

The plugin registration lists Powerkit, Canvas, Absolute Reviews, Advanced Popups, Sight, One Click Demo Import, SearchWP Live Ajax Search, Regenerate Thumbnails and Contact Form 7. Every entry is marked as recommended rather than required in this archive. That registration does not mean every layout works without those plugins: choose the components needed by your intended content and check the matching documentation. It also does not establish that their files are bundled inside the theme ZIP.

Demo import fetches additional resources

The import configuration points to a remote demo-content XML file and a widgets JSON file on the vendor’s cloud domain. A downloaded theme ZIP therefore does not by itself demonstrate that demo import will succeed. Check access to those resources and the importer’s requirements before relying on a demo-based setup. This inspection did not test their availability or complete an import.

Review three menu locations after import

The after-import callback looks up a menu named Primary and assigns it to the primary, mobile and footer menu locations. On a staging import, inspect those three assignments before adapting navigation: your footer may need different links from your main menu. The importer’s own introduction says it adds posts, pages, categories, comments, tags and widgets, so importing into an established publication deserves a recovery plan.

Verify the result against your own content

After selecting the intended Authentic components, check whether imported widgets and menus are still useful for your publication. Replace demonstration content deliberately and inspect an article on a phone. These are follow-up tasks based on the recorded import behavior; this article does not claim that we completed a WordPress installation or checked plugin interoperability.
