Wellspring

WordPress theme

Wellspring is Mikado's wellness theme, and its vocabulary is unusually literal: a BMI Calculator, a Working Hours shortcode, an Advanced Comparison Pricing Table, progress and pie-chart shortcodes, and the Timetable plugin bundled in. This article covers those numeric and schedule elements, the header skin controls, the header/search side areas, and what the changelog says about upkeep and retired social feeds.

A theme whose shortcodes are named after practice tasks

Mikado's feature list for Wellspring reads less like a general shortcode library and more like an inventory of a wellness business: Working Hours, Pricing Table, Advanced Comparison Pricing Table, Process, Team, Info Box, Video Banner. Add the BMI Calculator plugin and The Events Calendar compatibility from the same list and a shape emerges — a site where visitors check opening times, read a class or session schedule, compare membership tiers, and possibly check a body metric.

That is the distinction worth testing against your own project. If your site publishes programs, appointments or products, the theme already has blocks for them. If it is a wellness blog with essays and no services page, those blocks simply stay unused.

Figures, progress and process: the infographic set

The vendor lists Progress Bar, Vertical Progress Bar and Icon Progress Bar shortcodes, Multiple Pie Chart shortcodes, plus "various infographic shortcodes" and the Process shortcode in the same breath.

These are the elements that let a programme page explain itself graphically: how a course divides between theory and practical work, how a treatment plan is split, what a coaching block looks like from intake to review. Used two or three times on a long page they add rhythm. A finance-style progress meter everywhere turns a consulting site into a dashboard, so the useful question is which single page deserves them.

Process is the more structurally interesting of the group, because a multi-step treatment or coaching route is hard to express in body text and easy to express as four ordered stages.

Twelve homepages, meditation and yoga among them

The marketplace description puts the homepage count at 12, made for wellness and health businesses, with templates for meditation and yoga named specifically. For a niche theme the number matters less than whether the range matches your argument: a studio timetable front page, a practitioner profile front page and a supplement shop front page are different pitches, and a dozen variants gets you closer before you rearrange anything.

One-click demo import is listed, so demo content arrives as a structure of pages, layouts and widget placements rather than a blank canvas.

One boundary is worth setting before you plan photography: the vendor states the demo images are presentational only and cannot be used on your site without buying a licence from a stock library. The import gives you structure; the art direction is yours.

The three bundled plugins, and why their versions move together

Wellspring lists Slider Revolution, WPBakery Page Builder and Timetable Responsive Schedule For WordPress as included plugins. Practically: pages are composed on the WPBakery canvas from the theme's shortcodes, sliders are built in Slider Revolution, and schedules come from Timetable rather than from a hand-built custom post type.

Because they ship with the theme, their versions travel with theme releases. Version 2.9 records Slider Revolution at 6.7.58, WPBakery at 9.0.1, Timetable at 8.0 and Mikado Core at 1.7. If a specific plugin feature matters to you, check what ships in the release you install instead of assuming the newest standalone plugin release. The changelog also shows where testing effort has gone: 2.8 added WooCommerce 10.x compatibility and improved PHP 8.3 compatibility, then updated the Mikado BMI Calculator plugin to 1.2.

Header skins that change per section, and three side areas

The header options are finer-grained than a niche theme usually bothers with. The vendor lists separate logos for regular, sticky and mobile headers, separate logo variants for dark and light skins, and the ability to change the header skin from section to section. There is a Header Top area with its own widget regions, plus Header Top and Header Bottom widget areas, and the mobile header is styled independently of the desktop one.

For a long scrolling wellness page the per-section skin change is the practical one: a photographic hero can sit under a dark header while the content below uses a light one, without a second template.

Above and beside that sit three Side Area types, an optional Mikado Search, a mega menu and anchor link functionality, which is what makes a one-page studio or practice site with jump links workable.

What the changelog tells you about upkeep

The release history is long and largely about keeping the bundled stack current: 2.9 refreshes the three plugins and Mikado Core, updates the Google Fonts list, records security improvements and removes a Twitter connect script.

Two entries matter more than the rest. Version 2.8, dated 26 November 2025, adds a WPML config file and WooCommerce 10.x compatibility, drops the Mikado Instagram Feed plugin because of Instagram API changes, and improves Google Maps API compatibility. The previous year's 2.7 removed the Mikado Twitter Feed plugin for the same reason. The pattern is clear: core compatibility is actively maintained, and social feed widgets are not a dependable part of the package. If an Instagram grid is central to your homepage, plan to supply it with a separate plugin.

The marketplace attributes recorded on 4 November 2026 declare WordPress 6.5.x through 7.0.x, WooCommerce 9.x and 10.x, WPML, bbPress 2.5.x and 2.6.x, The Events Calendar and WPBakery. Those are vendor declarations about the theme, not a result from running it against your plugin set.

Questions & answers

Do I need the Timetable plugin if my site has no schedule?

No. Timetable Responsive Schedule For WordPress ships as an included plugin, so it is available with the theme and updates alongside it. It becomes relevant when you publish class or session times; without scheduled sessions you can leave it alone.

Can I publish the demo photographs on my site?

No. The vendor states the demo images are used for presentation only and require a separate licence from a stock image provider before you can publish them.

Does Wellspring include an Instagram or Twitter feed?

Not in current releases. The Instagram Feed plugin was removed in 2.8 and the Twitter Feed plugin in 2.7, both because of API changes. Use a separate social feed plugin if you want that kind of grid.

Are pages built in the block editor?

The vendor lists WPBakery Page Builder as an included plugin and ships a large shortcode collection, so the intended workflow is composing pages on the WPBakery canvas. A 2018 changelog entry notes Gutenberg plugin compatibility; that is not a claim that the theme's layouts are block templates.
