TwoFold

WordPress theme

TwoFold, by fuelthemes, is a fullscreen photography theme whose release notes record a Download button option for photo-proofed galleries and albums, and password protection for homepage layouts. The article covers that proofing-to-handover workflow, the photowall, horizontal, masonry and split tile arrangements, why the declared WordPress 6.8.x range sits awkwardly beside an archived changelog that ends in March 2021, and what the packaged PSDs and demo photographs mean for a build.

A proofing gallery that can hand the files back

Most photography themes stop at presentation. TwoFold's release notes record something further along the client relationship: version 3.0.0, dated 7 July 2018, added an option to show a Download button for photo-proofed galleries and albums.

That changes who the gallery is for. A proofing set is what a client reviews before choosing, so the download option turns the album into a handover point rather than a portfolio piece. If you shoot weddings, events or commercial work where clients pick frames from a shared set, this is the feature to evaluate first, because you would otherwise bridge it with a separate delivery plugin.

The vendor frames the theme around fullscreen presentation, and galleries and albums are the objects that workflow runs on. Treat the download setting as an option on those album types, configured through the theme's own gallery settings rather than a page builder.

Password protection applies to homepage layouts

Version 3.2.3, dated 25 November 2018, added password protection for homepage layouts. Read precisely, that is protection on a homepage layout — the arrangement a photographer uses for a private client landing page or an unlaunched site — not a password field on each album.

Those are different jobs. A private album behind a password is a delivery mechanism; a protected homepage is a gate in front of a chosen layout. The changelog describes no album-level password, so do not assume you can lock an individual proofing gallery this way without checking the gallery settings on your own install.

For a studio running several client jobs at once, the distinction shapes the build. Homepage gating plus an unguessable album URL is one arrangement; a separate password per client gallery is another, and the release notes only support the first.

Photowall, horizontal, masonry and split tiles

The marketplace tags name photowall, horizontal and masonry, and the changelog confirms these are layout mechanics rather than marketing words: version 3.2.2, dated 5 November 2018, fixed an issue with masonry layout columns, and version 3.4.4, dated 6 May 2020, fixed the split tile slider.

So you have more than one way to present a set. Masonry places images of mixed aspect ratios together without hard cropping. A horizontal arrangement suits a scroll-through sequence where the eye moves sideways. A split tile slider breaks the frame into segments. Each changes how much control you keep over crop and order, and the theme's options are organised around choosing one per gallery rather than mixing them on a page.

Viewing is handled by LightGallery, a third-party lightbox library that version 3.7.0 updated in March 2021. A lightbox is where visitors spend most of their time on a photography site, so test its image sizing and navigation before you commit to a gallery style.

The declared WordPress range and the 2021 changelog

The marketplace listing declares compatibility from WordPress 5.5.x through 6.8.x, alongside WooCommerce 6.x.x, WPML, Events Calendar, Events Calendar Pro, Gravity Forms, Elementor and Foundation 6. Those are vendor declarations about supported ranges, as listed in November 2026 — not the result of running the theme against a particular server.

The changelog tells a shorter story. Its last entry is version 3.8, dated 23 March 2021, adding PHP 8.0 compatibility and a demo import fix. That is about five years before the compatibility list reaches 6.8.x. Both statements come from the vendor and describe different things: what the theme is declared to work with, and when its code last changed in a documented way.

A theme with a long changelog through 2021 — jQuery 3 support, WooCommerce fixes, a Gutenberg improvement — has history behind it. None of that proves behaviour on a current PHP and plugin stack. Import the demo onto a staging copy that mirrors your host before you build content you would have to move later.

Gutenberg is supported; Elementor is only declared compatible

Gutenberg Optimized is marked Yes, and version 3.6.0, dated 18 December 2020, records that Gutenberg support was improved. The block editor is therefore a supported surface for writing posts and pages, not a fallback.

Elementor appears in the Compatible With field, next to plugins such as WPML and Gravity Forms. That is a compatibility declaration, not a statement that Elementor is bundled or that the demo layouts are Elementor templates. The listing names no bundled page builder, so plan on the theme's own gallery and layout options plus Gutenberg for content, and verify any Elementor workflow yourself.

The same caution applies to the rest of the integration list. A declared integration does not mean every demo depends on it, and nothing in the evidence suggests Events Calendar tuning.

PSDs in the package, photographs outside the licence

The files-included field lists layered PSD, PSD, PHP, CSS and JS. The PSDs are the practical detail for a photography brand: source design files let you adapt a logo treatment or a portfolio composition without redrawing it, which few themes at this level provide.

The vendor's own disclaimer covers the photographs. Images used in the demos need your own licence if you intend to publish them, so an import gives you layouts and placeholders, not a photo library. For a site whose whole design leans on large imagery, that is a budget line worth writing down before the build starts.

Questions & answers

Can TwoFold password-protect a single client gallery?

The changelog documents password protection for homepage layouts in version 3.2.3, not per-album passwords. Check the gallery settings on your own install if each proofing set needs its own password.

Does the Download button work on any gallery?

The release note describes an option to show a Download button for photo-proofed galleries and albums. You enable it on those album types; the evidence describes no site-wide switch.

Is Elementor included with the theme?

No bundled builder is named. Elementor appears only in the compatible-with field, so treat it as a declared integration rather than a package inclusion or a description of how demo pages are built.

907

907, by webcreations907, is built so that individual pages can carry their own logo, colours, fonts and menu, with CSS page loaders switched on or off per page. The article covers that per-page model, the WPBakery-plus-Revolution-Slider package against Elementor as a compatibility entry, repeatable portfolio and blog loops with AJAX pagination, filterable portfolios with mouseover video, the 27 demos and 134 theme blocks, and what the changelog shows about maintenance.

Airtifact

Airtifact is a portfolio theme whose browsing layer runs on AJAX, with a one-click switch to turn that behaviour off, two navigation treatments, and a deliberately small in-house content builder rather than a mainstream page builder. Its project grids use Packery, Isotope or masonry with item filtering, and the vendor notes a limitation worth knowing before you plan a blog: only one of its two blog styles can be active at a time.

Alamak

Alamak is a Bootstrap-based one-page portfolio theme where the homepage is a stack of sections you add, remove and reorder, topped by one of three hero modes: slider, self-hosted video or YouTube background. Portfolio and team details open through Ajax, and the theme pairs a filterable, paginated portfolio with two blog layouts. Its changelog runs to late 2020 while the marketplace listing declares WordPress 6.5.x to 7.0.x, so weigh that gap yourself.
