The Demo Switcher decides whether Newsblock suits you
Most magazine themes sell a layout. Newsblock sells changing it later. Code Supply Co. describes a Demo Switcher that applies a different demo at any time, as the vendor puts it, without affecting your content, and without leaving behind duplicate copies of dummy posts and pages. Nine demos ship with the theme, and a separate one-click import adds demo posts when you are starting from nothing.
Read that claim narrowly. It says your articles, categories and media survive a design change. It does not say your own CSS or template tweaks travel with you, and it does not say a demo switch preserves each other demo's customisations. If you plan to move a live publication between looks, test a switch on a copy of the site first.
Two routes, two jobs: import demo posts to seed a new site, or switch demos to restyle an existing one.
Nine demos, four decisions that actually shape the pages
Under the demo count sit choices that do the real work. Posts and pages can use one of three header types, including an image-overlay header for featured posts and a smaller variant. Archive layouts come as grid, list or full, applied to the homepage and archive pages, and page layouts allow a left sidebar, a right sidebar or full width.
Dark mode is a switch rather than a demo of its own. The vendor says it activates from the visitor's browser preference or from a manual toggle, and it is paired with Smart Colors: pick a dark header or footer background and text and links flip to white instead of being set field by field. Fonts come from a dropdown of 800+ Google Fonts with instant preview.
All of this lives in the native WordPress Customizer with live preview, so you see a layout or palette change before saving. That is a different experience from themes that route the same settings through their own options screen.
Additional Content is the child-theme edit you do not write
The feature the vendor calls Additional Content is where editorial work gets easier. You can insert content into defined template parts - an ad spot under the header, a description above the featured posts block, a subscribe form below post content - without editing template files or overriding templates in a child theme.
Ads and banner spots are also available in the Customizer, with the vendor naming AdSense support. If display advertising and newsletter capture pay the bills, this is your setup work, and it is also what a redesign could break: confirm your injected blocks still appear after a demo switch.
Around this sits Powerkit, Code Supply Co.'s own companion plugin for share buttons, social links, author and about widgets, newsletter forms, a slider, tiled galleries, a lightbox and lazy loading. Its modules can be disabled one by one, so you can keep share buttons and drop the slider.
What the theme does for a multi-writer desk
The authoring features address how a publication is run. Co-Authors Plus support lets several authors appear on one post with a bio and social accounts, and lets guest authors be added without separate user accounts. Co-Authors Plus is a separate plugin, so confirm it is installed rather than assuming the capability is native.
Duplicate content gets a targeted fix: featured posts can be excluded from the main archive with a single click, so the lead story on the homepage stops reappearing in the stream below. Archive paging can be numbered, a Load More button, or infinite scrolling, with the vendor saying posts are fetched through the REST API. Post views, with Google Analytics synchronisation, and an automatically calculated reading time are both listed as post meta.
The menu layer gets similar attention. A mega-menu dropdown can show recent posts with thumbnails, requested only when a visitor hovers the parent item, and the vendor says unlimited menu levels are supported with submenus that flip to the opposite side when space runs out. The mobile slide-out menu can hold widgets - social links, a subscription form, a Facebook page - the way a sidebar does.
Declared compatibility, not a test report
When the listing was observed on 4 November 2026, the marketplace attributes recorded compatibility with the Block Editor, Elementor and Elementor Pro, Contact Form 7, WPML, and WooCommerce 9.x and 10.x, across WordPress 6.6.x through 7.0.x, with Gutenberg Optimized marked Yes. The listed package files are PHP, CSS and JavaScript.
Those are declarations stored with the listing, not results from running the theme against your plugins or host, so treat them as a shortlist to check on staging. The vendor description adds claims beyond the attribute list: Polylang alongside WPML, Yoast breadcrumb styles, and AMP styles that take effect once the official AMP plugin is active. It also states a .pot file for translation, built-in RTL support, and styles for the default WordPress galleries and the [gallery] shortcode.
Questions & answers
Does switching demos wipe my posts?
The vendor says the Demo Switcher applies a new demo without affecting your content and without generating duplicate dummy posts and pages. That is a claim about content persistence; it does not promise your own template or CSS customisations carry across, so test a switch on a copy of the site.
Do I need a page builder to change layouts?
No builder is named in the theme's own description. Header type, archive layout, sidebar position, dark mode and colours are set in the native WordPress Customizer with live preview. Block Editor and Elementor appear in the compatibility attributes if you want either for page content.
Where do extra authors come from?
Through Co-Authors Plus integration, which the vendor lists as the mechanism for multiple authors per post and for guest authors without separate user accounts. Co-Authors Plus is a separate plugin, so its availability depends on your install.
Can the homepage avoid repeating the lead story?
According to the description, yes: featured posts can be excluded from the main archive with a single click, which removes the duplicate appearance of the same article in the featured area and the post stream below.
