Converio

WordPress theme

Converio, by ThemeMotive, is a corporate WordPress theme pitched at campaign pages — lead, selling and landing templates alongside a shop — rather than at one page builder. Its editing surface is a shortcode set of roughly 40 elements plus Customizer options, with a heavily configurable header and menu system on top. The vendor's description also bundles a dedicated Events plugin, Revolution Slider and more than 60 layered PSD files. The last vendor update was June 2020, so the practical question is whether that workflow and declared WordPress 5.5-era compatibility still suit your project.

The page types Converio was written for

ThemeMotive's description does not sell Converio on homepage variety. It names page jobs: conversion-optimised shop, lead page, selling page and landing page templates, described as ready for building converting landing pages for any campaign. The marketplace category places it under corporate, and the vendor says it is ready for corporate, shop, blog, landing page, selling page and lead page sites.

That framing is worth testing early. A landing page template is only useful if its structure matches how you collect a response — a form, a phone number, a download. The vendor also lists working Ajax forms on the contact page and changelog entries about Contact Form 7 support on the landing page, which suggests forms were intended as part of the layout rather than an afterthought. Treat the demo as the source for how each template is laid out; the feature list does not describe the sections inside them.

Shortcodes are the editing model, not a page builder

The feature list puts about 40 shortcodes alongside a flexible, lightweight column system, custom elements for common site needs, tabs, toggles, accordions, pricing tables, testimonials, animated charts, milestones and countdowns. Pages are assembled by placing those elements, and appearance settings live in the WordPress Customizer, where the vendor says changes preview live.

The changelog adds a qualifier. The 1.0.36 entry mentions maintenance to the Converio Shortcodes plugin and preparations for Visual Builder support. That is preparation recorded in July 2019, not a shipped builder, so plan on the shortcode workflow described in the feature list. It also means your content sits in shortcode markup: if you later move the site to a theme that does not register the same elements, the raw tags remain in the editor until they are cleaned up.

Where the header and menu settings go deep

The description spends an unusual amount of space on navigation. It lists a header and menu system with widgets in the responsive menu, advanced sticky header options, control over dropdown and megamenu animation, and four header addons: social icons, search, a top menu, and a slot for custom text.

For a corporate site with several sections, those are the settings you actually touch per project — whether the header sticks, what appears in the utility bar above the menu, and how the menu opens on smaller screens. The vendor's claim is the depth of control, and the specific items are verifiable in the theme's options. What the description does not say is whether header layouts can differ page by page, so confirm that in the demo if you need it.

Bundled extras: Events plugin, Revolution Slider, PSDs

Converio's feature list includes items the vendor describes as coming with the purchase: a dedicated Events plugin, Revolution Slider, two Converio sliders of its own, and more than 60 organised layered PSD files for design work such as favicon and logo creation. The ThemeForest file list also records Layered PSD and PSD among the included files.

Two limits matter. First, a bundled third-party plugin is not the same as owning a separate licence for it, and its updates arrive on the theme's schedule rather than the plugin author's — the changelog shows Revolution Slider being refreshed repeatedly across releases. Second, the description has an explicit note that images on the preview site are for demonstration only and are not included in the download file. Photography is your job, which for a campaign page is often the whole visual argument.

Less prominent but listed: 20 abstract pattern backgrounds with adjustable opacity and background colour, 10 colour skins with unlimited colours, boxed and wide layouts, four blog layouts and four portfolio layouts.

The release history sets the real constraint

As observed on the marketplace in November 2026, the vendor's last recorded update is 26 June 2020, at version 1.0.37. That entry adds support for wp_body_open() and fixes schema validation for breadcrumbs, along with Envato Theme Check fixes. The declared software versions stop at WordPress 5.5.x, with WooCommerce 4.2.x and WPML listed as compatible.

That is a five-year gap between the last release and the observation date, and it is the fact to weigh before anything else. WordPress has moved a long way since 5.5, and a theme that has not declared newer versions has not documented testing against them. Nothing here proves Converio breaks on a current install — it may work fine for a brochure site with few plugins — but the declarations on the listing are the vendor's evidence, and they stop in 2020.

Gutenberg Optimized is recorded as No. Read that as a statement about whether block-editor layouts get dedicated styling, not as proof that the block editor is switched off. Converio's intended surface is shortcodes and the Customizer, so a block-built page will inherit less of the theme's design language.

What a PHP and theme update would involve

Because the last release is dated, expect to do version housekeeping yourself. The changelog shows the pattern Converio was maintained under: files for WooCommerce templates updated in step with each WooCommerce release, the bundled slider refreshed, translation files regenerated, JavaScript libraries replaced. None of that has happened in the public record since June 2020.

Concretely, that means checking whether the WooCommerce template overrides in the theme are behind the WooCommerce version you run, since outdated overrides are a common source of broken cart and checkout markup. It also means reviewing any shortcode output against current PHP versions on your host. A child theme is described as supported, which is the right place to keep fixes so they survive a theme file replacement.

Questions & answers

Does Converio include a page builder?

The feature list describes about 40 shortcodes and a column system, with settings in the Customizer. The 2019 changelog mentions preparations for Visual Builder support, but no builder is presented as the editing surface. The theme does bundle Revolution Slider, which handles sliders rather than page content.

Can I use the demo images from the Converio preview?

No. The vendor states that images on the preview site are for demonstration only and are not included in the download file. You will need to source your own photography, and for campaign pages that usually means licensing or commissioning it.

Is Converio translated, and does it work with WPML?

The description calls the theme translation ready and includes a .pot language file, and WPML is listed in the compatibility attributes. Those are two different things: a .pot file provides strings for translation, while WPML support covers multilingual site structure. Both are vendor declarations from the listing, observed in November 2026.
